Getting started
Connect WhatsApp
Link your first number by QR code or the WhatsApp Business API.
Two ways to connect
Onboarding asks you to connect a WhatsApp number before you land in the app, because a Chatz workspace with no channel has nothing to show in the inbox. You have two paths, and neither one is wrong: pick the one that matches the number you already have.

- QR code, for a number that already has WhatsApp (personal or Business app) on a phone. You keep using that phone's WhatsApp app as normal.
- WhatsApp Business API (WABA), the official Meta channel, for a business that wants a number with no phone attached, higher sending limits and Meta's own reliability.
Connect by QR code
This is the fastest path: most people are connected in about 30 seconds. It works the same way as linking WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop.
- Choose the QR code optionOn the onboarding screen or the Channels page.
- Scan the code with your phoneOpen WhatsApp on the phone that owns the number, go to Linked devices, and scan.
- Wait for the connection to confirmChatz starts syncing recent chats and contacts once the scan succeeds.
Connect the Business API
The Business API path signs you in with Facebook and applies for an official number through Meta. It brings across up to six months of history if the number was already messaging customers, and it is the option to pick if you plan to send at volume: templates outside the 24-hour customer service window, higher throughput and no phone dependency.
Applying takes longer than scanning a QR code, since Meta reviews the number. Once it is approved, the channel appears in your workspace like any other, with its own WhatsApp Business API console for templates and usage.
Skip for now
Not ready to connect a number yet? Press Skip for now and you land straight in the app with an empty inbox. Nothing is lost: connect a channel later from the Channels page whenever you are ready, using the same QR or Business API paths described here.
