Knowledge base

Teach the AI from documents, sheets, links and saved entries.

Source types

The knowledge base is what your AI chatbot actually knows. Instead of writing every possible answer by hand, you point the bot at sources you likely already have, and it answers from those.

SourceWhat it is
DocumentsFiles you upload, such as a PDF price list or a policy document.
Google SheetsA connected sheet, useful for data that changes often, like current pricing or stock.
LinksA website page whose content the bot reads and can answer from.
Saved entriesText and media you write directly in Chatz, described below.

Saved entries

A saved entry is a piece of knowledge you write yourself, combining text with media, for example a travel package brochure that carries a caption, the itinerary and a photo or video together as one entry. Where a document or a link is something you already had, a saved entry is built for the answer itself, and it is what a flow's Send message step attaches when it needs to send a brochure, a price sheet or similar as part of an automated message.

One entry, many places
Because a saved entry can carry both the words and the media a customer receives, updating it in one place updates every bot answer and every flow step that reuses it, rather than you having to hunt down and re-upload the same brochure everywhere it is sent.

Reused by bots and flows

A knowledge source is not tied to a single bot. Attach it on a bot's Knowledge tab and any bot that references it can answer from it, and a saved entry can also be attached directly to a flow's Send message step, outside of any bot at all.

  • Documents, sheets and links teach a bot what to say.
  • Saved entries can do the same, and can also be sent directly by a flow, with or without a bot involved.
  • Your product catalogue is attached to a bot separately, on its Knowledge tab, so it can also answer questions about what you sell.
